Diagoras Airport

Rhodes International Airport "Diagoras" (RHO) serves the island of Rhodes, the largest of Greece's Dodecanese islands in the southeastern Aegean Sea. The airport is located on the northern tip of the island, 14 km southwest of Rhodes Town.

The airport has a single terminal that handles both domestic and international flights. Summer is extremely busy with charter flights from across Europe, while winter sees reduced operations.

Key airlines: Aegean Airlines (domestic hub), Sky Express, Ryanair, easyJet, TUI, Jet2, Condor, and numerous European charter carriers during peak season (April-October).

Rhodes Airport is on the island's west coast:

• To Rhodes Town (Old Town): 14 km, 20-25 minutes
• To Faliraki: 20 km, 25-30 minutes
• To Lindos: 50 km, 45-55 minutes
• To Ialyssos: 8 km, 10-15 minutes

Limited public transport—most travelers use taxis, rental cars, or hotel transfers.

Uber does not operate on Rhodes. Use local taxis or pre-booked transfers.

Taxis are available from the rank outside arrivals:

• To Rhodes Town: €25-30 (fixed rates posted)
• To Faliraki: €30-35
• To Ialyssos/Ixia hotels: €15-20
• To Lindos: €65-75

Night rates (midnight-05:00) are approximately 50% higher. Agree on fare before departure.

Pre-booked transfers: Many hotels offer airport transfers; private transfer services are widely available and often cheaper than taxis for distant locations like Lindos.

Bus (KTEL Rhodes)

Limited bus service from the airport:

• Route: Airport → Rhodes Town bus station
• Frequency: Roughly hourly (reduced on Sundays)
• Journey time: 30-40 minutes
• Cost: €2.50

The bus stop is outside the terminal on the main road. Service is infrequent—check schedules at www.ktelrodou.gr.

Note: No direct bus service to resort areas like Faliraki or Lindos from the airport. Take a bus to Rhodes Town and connect from there.

Most visitors stay at beach resorts or in Rhodes Town rather than near the airport. The airport area (Paradisi village) has a few small hotels.

Local tips:

• Rent a car to explore the island properly—public transport is limited
• The Old Town is car-free; park outside the walls
• Lindos gets extremely crowded midday in summer—visit early morning or late afternoon
• Greek islands operate on "island time"—ferries and buses may run late
• Try local specialties: fresh seafood, souvlaki, and pitaroudia (chickpea fritters)
• Rhodes has excellent local wines from indigenous grape varieties
