About
Thai AirAsia is Thailand's leading low-cost carrier and a joint venture between Malaysia-based AirAsia and Thailand's Asia Aviation PCL. Founded in 2003, the airline has grown to become the dominant budget carrier in Thailand, operating over 60 aircraft on domestic and short-haul international routes throughout Southeast Asia.
Headquartered in Bangkok with its main hub at Don Mueang International Airport (DMK), Thai AirAsia operates as part of the broader AirAsia Group network with carrier code FD. The airline serves over 40 destinations including 18+ domestic Thai routes and international connections to Cambodia, China, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Macau, Malaysia, Myanmar, Singapore, and Vietnam.
For flexible travelers with minimal baggage, Thai AirAsia offers excellent value for exploring Thailand and the region. Base fares can start remarkably low during sales, but compare total costs including bags before assuming budget carriers are always cheapest.
