Introduction

Guadalajara International Airport "Miguel Hidalgo y Costilla" (GDL) serves Guadalajara, Mexico's second-largest city and the capital of Jalisco state—birthplace of tequila, mariachi music, and much of what the world considers "Mexican" culture. Located 16 km south of the city center.

The airport has two terminals:

Terminals are connected by a walkway (10-minute walk or shuttle).

Getting In and Out

GDL is south of the city:

  • To Centro Histórico: 16 km, 25-40 minutes
  • To Zona Chapultepec: 14 km, 20-35 minutes
  • To Tlaquepaque: 8 km, 15-20 minutes
  • To Zapopan: 20 km, 30-45 minutes

Traffic can be heavy during rush hours.

Macrobús (BRT)

Line 2 connects the airport to central Guadalajara:

  • Route: Airport → Central Vieja → Mercado de Abastos area

  • Journey time: 45-60 minutes
  • Hours: 05:00-23:00

Transfer to Line 1 for Centro Histórico access.

Light Rail (Tren Ligero)

Doesn't reach the airport directly, but connects from Macrobús transfer points.
