About

Air Nostrum (officially Air Nostrum Lineas Aereas del Mediterraneo) is Spain's largest regional airline and operates as Iberia Regional under an exclusive franchise agreement with the Iberia Group. Founded on May 23, 1994, in Valencia, the airline was created to serve the southern European regional aviation market.

Although Air Nostrum operates under its own IATA code (YW) and ICAO code (ANE), passengers typically book through Iberia's systems and flights appear with Iberia (IB) flight numbers. The airline is independently owned but fully integrated with Iberia's branding, network, and loyalty program.

Air Nostrum connects 59 destinations across eight countries in Europe and North Africa, operating over 200 daily flights. The airline serves as a critical feeder for Iberia's long-haul network at Madrid-Barajas, connecting smaller Spanish cities and regional European destinations to Iberia's transatlantic routes. As part of the Iberia Group, Air Nostrum passengers have access to the Oneworld alliance network.

In October 2023, Air Nostrum merged with CityJet to form the Strategic Alliance of Regional Airlines (SARA), making it Europe's largest independent regional aviation group. The airline has won the European Regions Airline Association (ERA) Airline of the Year Award eight times, more than any other European regional carrier.

Baggage Policy

Air Nostrum follows Iberia's baggage policies. The key difference is that Air Nostrum operates smaller regional aircraft (CRJ and ATR), so overhead bin space is limited. Cabin bags frequently need to be gate-checked at no additional charge.
