About

Endeavor Air is a regional airline and wholly-owned subsidiary of Delta Air Lines, headquartered in Minneapolis, Minnesota. The airline traces its origins back to 1985 when it was founded as Express Airlines I in Atlanta, Georgia. Over the years, the carrier went through several name changes and ownership transitions—becoming Pinnacle Airlines in 2002—before being rebranded as Endeavor Air in 2013 following Delta's acquisition.

Important: Endeavor Air does not sell tickets directly to passengers. The airline operates flights exclusively as Delta Connection for Delta Air Lines. When you book a flight operated by Endeavor Air, you purchase your ticket through Delta Air Lines. The flight will appear as a Delta flight number, even though the aircraft and crew belong to Endeavor Air.

As a wholly-owned Delta subsidiary, Endeavor Air is fully integrated into Delta's operations, with aircraft painted in Delta Connection livery and crew members trained to Delta's service standards. The airline operates approximately 700 daily flights to over 140 destinations across the United States, Canada, the Caribbean, and Central America, making it one of the largest regional carriers in North America.

Endeavor Air serves as a critical component of Delta's hub strategy, providing regional feed to Delta's Minneapolis-St. Paul (MSP), Detroit (DTW), and New York JFK (JFK) hubs. The wholly-owned subsidiary model ensures operational consistency and seamless integration with Delta's mainline network.

Tips & Tricks

Booking

  • Book through Delta: Always book via delta.com for the best service and SkyMiles credit
  • Check aircraft type: CRJ-900 offers First Class; CRJ-200 does not
  • Connection times: Allow at least 60 minutes when connecting to/from Endeavor flights at MSP, DTW, or JFK
  • Same ticket: Always book regional connections on the same ticket as mainline flights for delay protection

At the Airport

  • Expect gate-checking: CRJ overhead bins are small; bring a personal item with essentials
  • MSP: Endeavor flights typically depart from Concourse G (regional)
  • DTW: Most Endeavor flights depart from the McNamara Terminal
  • JFK: Delta Connection flights use Terminal 4

During the Flight

  • CRJ comfort: CRJ aircraft are narrower than E-Jets; the flight is typically short
  • Bring entertainment: Download content to the Fly Delta app before boarding
  • Power planning: USB ports available on CRJ-900; bring your charging cable
  • No middle seats: 2-2 configuration means every seat is window or aisle

Upgrades

  • CRJ-900 First Class: 2-2 configuration, 12 seats available
  • CRJ-200: No First Class—no upgrade possible
  • Check aircraft: Verify you're on a CRJ-900 if First Class is important to you
  • Regional upgrades: Generally easier to clear than mainline due to smaller premium cabins

Best Seat Choices on CRJ-900

First Class:

  • Row 1: Most legroom but no floor storage during takeoff/landing
  • Row 2 or 3: Good balance of legroom and storage

Comfort+:

  • Rows 4-5: First rows of Comfort+ section, extra legroom

Main Cabin:

  • Exit row (varies): Extra legroom where available
  • Avoid last 2 rows: Near lavatory; may be noisy and limited recline

For Nervous Flyers

  • Regional jets are certified to the same FAA safety standards as larger aircraft
  • Endeavor Air maintains a strong safety record as a Delta subsidiary
  • Turbulence may feel more pronounced on smaller aircraft but is equally safe
  • Crew members are fully trained and FAA-certified
