Overview
IMPORTANT: Ukrainian airspace has been closed since February 24, 2022, due to the ongoing conflict. All commercial flights to and within Ukraine are suspended. The information below is provided for reference and future planning. Current access is only possible via ground transportation from neighboring countries.
Ukraine is the largest country entirely within Europe, located in Eastern Europe between Poland to the west and Russia to the east. Before the conflict, Ukraine was developing as a transit point between Europe and Asia, with Kyiv Boryspil International Airport (KBP) serving as the main international gateway and hub for Ukraine International Airlines.
The country has significant tourism potential, including the historic capital Kyiv, the cultural hub of Lviv, the Black Sea coast, and the Carpathian Mountains. However, due to the ongoing conflict, all air travel has been suspended since February 2022.
Major Airports
Note: All Ukrainian airports are currently non-operational for commercial aviation due to airspace closure.

Kyiv Airports (Pre-Conflict)
Kyiv Boryspil (KBP) was Ukraine's main international airport, located 35 km east of central Kyiv. It served as the hub for Ukraine International Airlines and handled the majority of international traffic. The airport had two terminals (D for international, F for low-cost carriers) and was connected to the city by Skybus express bus service.
Kyiv Zhuliany/Igor Sikorsky (IEV) was the city's secondary airport, located just 7 km from the city center. It handled low-cost carriers including Wizz Air and was popular for European budget routes due to its convenient city location.
Pre-conflict, which Kyiv airport? KBP for most international and long-haul flights, IEV for European low-cost carriers.
Regional Airports (Pre-Conflict)
Lviv (LWO) served western Ukraine and was the second-busiest airport. Located 6 km from the historic city center, it was growing as a hub for tourists visiting Western Ukraine.
Odesa (ODS) served the Black Sea coast and Ukraine's major port city.
