Overview

Oman is a welcoming Gulf state on the southeastern corner of the Arabian Peninsula, offering a more traditional and relaxed alternative to its flashier neighbors. With dramatic mountain ranges, pristine coastlines, vast deserts, and ancient forts, the Sultanate attracts travelers seeking authentic Arabian culture combined with stunning natural landscapes.

Muscat International Airport (MCT) serves as the main gateway and hub for Oman Air, the national carrier. While smaller than the mega-hubs in Dubai and Doha, MCT provides solid connectivity to Europe, Asia, and Africa. The country's second significant airport, Salalah (SLL), serves the southern region known for its unique monsoon season and frankincense heritage.

Oman has positioned itself as a premium destination focused on heritage tourism, outdoor adventure, and sustainable travel—distinct from the luxury shopping and skyscraper culture of neighboring UAE. The country is notably more conservative in some ways but remains very welcoming to tourists.
