Norway
Schengen Area. ETIAS required for visa-exempt travelers from 2025.
Overview
Norway is a Scandinavian country stretching along the western coast of the Nordic region, famous for its dramatic fjords, northern lights, and midnight sun. With a population of just 5.5 million spread across a long, mountainous coastline, domestic aviation plays a crucial role in connecting communities.
Oslo Gardermoen (OSL) is the main international gateway, handling the majority of intercontinental traffic. The country's challenging geography has made regional aviation essential, with over 50 airports serving remote communities from the southern tip to the Arctic north. Norway operates one of the world's most extensive short-takeoff-and-landing (STOL) networks.
For travelers, Norway offers exceptional natural scenery but comes with high costs. It's part of the Schengen Area, allowing passport-free travel from other Schengen countries, though it is not an EU member state.

Most international flights to Norway arrive here, including long-haul routes to the US and Asia.
Bergen Flesland (BGO)
Gateway to the fjords of western Norway, particularly convenient for Hardangerfjord and access to the Norway in a Nutshell route. Second-busiest airport with good European connections.
Tromso (TOS)
Located 350 km north of the Arctic Circle, Tromso is the gateway to Arctic Norway. Popular for northern lights tourism (September-March) and midnight sun experiences (May-July). Direct flights from Oslo, Bergen, and several European cities.
Regional Network
Norway's regional airports are operated by Avinor and include numerous small airports with STOL runways serving remote coastal and mountain communities. Wideroe operates most regional routes using Dash 8 aircraft.
