Lion Air is Indonesia's largest low-cost carrier and one of Southeast Asia's biggest airlines by fleet size. Headquartered in Jakarta, the airline operates over 118 aircraft serving more than 36 domestic and international destinations across Indonesia, Southeast Asia, China, India, and Australia.

Founded in 1999 by Rusdi Kirana, Lion Air has grown to become Boeing's second-largest customer worldwide (after Southwest Airlines). The airline is the flagship carrier of Lion Air Group, which also operates Batik Air (full-service Indonesian carrier), Wings Air (regional turboprop), Thai Lion Air, and Malindo Air (now Batik Air Malaysia). Together, the group operates over 180 Boeing aircraft.

Lion Air is not a member of any global airline alliance. The airline focuses on providing affordable air travel throughout Indonesia's vast archipelago, connecting the country's 17,000+ islands with high-frequency service at competitive prices.
