About
HK Express is Hong Kong's only low-cost carrier, operating from Hong Kong International Airport to destinations across Asia. Founded in 2004 as Hong Kong Express Airways (originally a full-service regional carrier), the airline relaunched as a low-cost carrier in 2013 under new ownership. In 2019, Cathay Pacific acquired full ownership of HK Express, making it part of the Cathay Group while maintaining its independent low-cost operation.
As a Cathay Pacific subsidiary, HK Express offers something unique among Asian LCCs: full integration with Asia Miles, Cathay's frequent flyer program. This means passengers can earn and redeem Asia Miles on HK Express flights, bridging the gap between budget travel and premium loyalty benefits.
The airline operates an all-Airbus fleet of A320 and A321 aircraft to over 25 destinations, with a strong focus on Japan (including secondary cities), South Korea, Southeast Asia, and Mainland China. HK Express positions itself as the affordable option for Hong Kong travelers, particularly popular for weekend getaways to nearby Asian destinations.
