About
NextJet was a Swedish regional airline that operated from 1997 to 2018. Based in Gothenburg, Sweden, the airline focused on serving the Scandinavian market with a network of regional routes connecting smaller cities across Sweden, Norway, and Denmark. NextJet was known for its commitment to regional connectivity and served as an important link for travelers in areas not directly served by major carriers.
At its peak, NextJet operated a fleet of Saab 340 turboprop aircraft, which were ideally suited for the short-haul regional routes that formed the backbone of the airline's operations. The airline operated from multiple Swedish bases, with a strong presence at Gothenburg Landvetter Airport and other regional hubs.
NextJet ceased operations in September 2018 after more than two decades of service. The airline's closure reflected broader industry consolidation and the challenges faced by regional carriers operating with smaller aircraft on routes increasingly dominated by larger carriers and low-cost airlines.
