Introduction

Aeroparque Jorge Newbery (AEP) is Buenos Aires' domestic and regional airport, located right on the Río de la Plata waterfront just 2 km from downtown Palermo. It's Argentina's busiest airport by passenger movements and the most convenient for travelers staying in central Buenos Aires.

The airport has a single terminal that handles domestic flights and regional international flights to neighboring countries (Uruguay, Paraguay, Chile, Brazil, Bolivia).

Key airlines: Aerolíneas Argentinas (hub), Flybondi, JetSmart, LATAM Argentina, and regional carriers like Austral.

Important: Long-haul international flights use Ezeiza Airport (EZE), 35 km southwest of the city. AEP handles domestic and short-haul regional routes only.

Buenos Aires Airport System

Buenos Aires has two airports:

Aeroparque Jorge Newbery (AEP) — City center location

  • Domestic flights throughout Argentina
  • Regional flights (Uruguay, Paraguay, Chile, Bolivia, southern Brazil)
  • 2 km from Palermo, 5 km from Microcentro

Ezeiza (EZE) — 35 km from city center

Connecting between AEP and EZE: Allow 3-4 hours minimum. Options:

  • Taxi/Uber: 45-90 minutes depending on traffic, ARS 15,000-25,000
  • Bus (Tienda León): 60-90 minutes, ARS 4,000
