Adnan Menderes International Airport

Izmir Adnan Menderes Airport (ADB) serves Izmir, Turkey's third-largest city, and the surrounding Aegean region including Selçuk (Ephesus), Kuşadası, and Çeşme. The airport is located 18 km south of Izmir city center.

The airport has two terminals:

• Domestic Terminal: Turkish Airlines, Pegasus, AnadoluJet domestic flights
• International Terminal: All international flights plus some domestic

Both terminals are modern and connected by a covered walkway (5-minute walk).

Key airlines: Turkish Airlines (major hub), Pegasus, SunExpress, AnadoluJet, Ryanair, easyJet, Corendon, and seasonal European carriers.

ADB is south of Izmir along the coast:

• To Izmir city center (Konak): 18 km, 25-40 minutes
• To Selçuk (for Ephesus): 60 km, 50 minutes
• To Kuşadası: 75 km, 60-70 minutes
• To Çeşme: 90 km, 75-90 minutes

The IZBAN suburban rail provides excellent access to the city.

Uber does not operate in Turkey. Use BiTaksi app or official taxis.

Taxis available from ranks outside both terminals:

• To Izmir center (Konak): TRY 400-500 (~$12-15 USD)
• To Selçuk: TRY 800-1,000 (~$25-30)
• To Kuşadası: TRY 1,200-1,500 (~$35-45)

IZBAN (Suburban Rail)

The IZBAN train connects the airport to Izmir city center and beyond—highly recommended.

To Izmir city center:

• Station: Directly beneath the domestic terminal (follow signs)
• Journey time: 25 minutes to Konak (city center)
• Frequency: Every 10-20 minutes
• Cost: TRY 20-25 (~$0.60-0.75)
• Hours: 06:00-23:30

1. Exit arrivals and follow "IZBAN" signs down to the underground station
2. Take the train toward Aliağa (northbound)
3. Exit at Konak or Halkapınar for central Izmir

Get an IzmirimKart (rechargeable transit card) from machines at the station for cheaper fares.

Havaş Bus

Havaş airport bus runs to central Izmir:

• Route: Airport → Basmane (train station area)
• Journey time: 30-40 minutes
• Cost: TRY 60-80
• Less convenient than IZBAN but useful if trains aren't running

Long-distance buses

Direct buses from the airport or nearby Otogar (bus station):

• To Selçuk: Minibuses from Adnan Menderes, ~60 minutes
• To Kuşadası: Connect via Selçuk or direct services

Hotels near the airport are limited. Most visitors stay in Izmir city center or head directly to coastal resorts.
