Air Transat is Canada's leading leisure airline, headquartered in Montreal, Quebec. Founded in 1987, the airline specializes in transatlantic flights to Europe and seasonal sun destinations in the Caribbean, Mexico, and Central America. Air Transat was named World's Best Leisure Airline at the 2025 Skytrax World Airline Awards.

The airline operates approximately 70 destinations across Europe, the Caribbean, the United States, South America, and North Africa. Air Transat is not a member of any global airline alliance but has established partnerships with Porter Airlines (joint venture since 2023) and Air Europa (interline agreement since 2025). The airline employs approximately 5,000 people and operates one of the most modern fleets in the leisure airline category.

Air Transat operates a modern fleet of Airbus A321LR and A330-200 aircraft, offering two cabin classes on most routes.

Club Class:

• Seat configuration: 2-2 on A321LR, dedicated cabin with 12 seats
• Seat pitch: 38" (97 cm)
• Seat width: 21" (53 cm)
• Recline: 7" with footrest and 6-position adjustable headrest
• Amenities: Premium meal service, complimentary bar service, amenity kit, priority boarding
• Best for: Transatlantic flights where the extra space and service justify the premium

Economy Class:

• A321LR: Used for transatlantic and longer routes, featuring the newest cabin interior
• A330-200: Widebody aircraft for high-demand routes, 50% quieter cabin than previous generation
• Fleet averages among the youngest and most fuel-efficient in the leisure airline category

Booking:

• Compare total costs including baggage when evaluating against competitors
• Eco Standard often represents better value than Eco Budget once you add baggage fees
• Watch for sales on transatlantic routes, especially in shoulder seasons (May, October)

Baggage:

• Always pre-purchase baggage online at least 24 hours before departure for up to 25% savings
• Eco Budget travelers to sun destinations: factor in the $35+ carry-on fee when comparing fares

At the Airport:
