Azerbaijan Airlines (AZAL) is the flag carrier of Azerbaijan, headquartered in Baku with its main hub at Heydar Aliyev International Airport (GYD). Founded in 1992 following the dissolution of the Soviet Union, AZAL has grown to serve over 50 destinations across Europe, the Middle East, Central Asia, and South Asia.

The airline operates a mixed fleet of Boeing 787-8 Dreamliners for long-haul routes and Airbus A320/A319 family aircraft for regional services, with a fleet modernization program underway to standardize on A320neo and Boeing 787 aircraft by 2030. AZAL became the first airline in the post-Soviet region to operate the Boeing 787 Dreamliner when it took delivery of two aircraft in 2014.

Azerbaijan Airlines is not a member of any major airline alliance but has established codeshare partnerships with several carriers. The airline positions Baku as a strategic transit hub connecting East and West, particularly between Europe, Central Asia, and the Indian subcontinent.
